UGANDAN WOMEN ENTREPRENEURS’ ATTRIBUTES;

Although women constitute a little over one half of Uganda's population, they rank lower than men in almost every social indicator in the country (UBOS, 2009). However, despite this, female entrepreneurs are increasingly prominent as employers, customers, suppliers, and competitors in the global community. More than one third of people involved in entrepreneurial activities are women (GEM, 2004).

While research shows similarities in the personal demographics of men and women entrepren… Continue

The Equality Act 2010

The Equality Act will become law in October 2010. It replaces previous legislation (such as the Race Relations Act 1976 and the Disability Discrimination Act 1995) and ensures consistency in what you need to do to make your workplace a fair environment and to comply with the law.

The Equality Act covers the same groups that were protected by existing equality legislation – age, disability, gender reassignment, race, religion or belief, sex, sexual orientation, marriage and civil partne

WHY SOME NEW ENTREPRENEURS ARE AFRAID TO NETWORK AND DON'T DO IT ENOUGH AND THE WAYS IN WHICH IT HURTS THEM

This article is taken from - Businesszone.co.uk

why entrepreneurs and small business owners don’t network nearly enough and the many ways in which it hurts them.

In Texas the phrase “All hat and no cattle” is used to describe someone who makes big promises but can’t deliver. He’s a faker, a sham and a blow hard. {I personally like the phrase 'all fur coat and no knickers)
No good businessman (business person, this is why we need E4W!!) wants to be any of those things because good… Continue

When your pain can be used as a gain to make a difference

About 7 years ago, after my divorce, I suffered from low self esteem and confidence as I had allowed the negative words of one individual to drag me down and take the smile of my face and for a while I could not look at myself in the mirror. It was a very sad period for me, as also about the same time I had so many dents, my house was going to be repossed and I had two children to look after. When I went out on my daily routine, to the world I looked ok, but when I went back home behind closed d… Continue

The Villa Sankofa

Its unique location in Ejisu, a town historically remembered for its famous and legendary Queen-mother Yaa Asantewaa who largely influenced the war between the Ashantes and the British in1900. Villa Sankafa is envisioned to be more than a lodge of just lavish amenities and facilities. The plan is to create an environment and feeling of ‘home away from… Continue

Death to the business plan.

Small business CPA Michael Hanley says most entrepreneurs don't need one. "Many people are surprised to hear that, as a small business CPA, I am not a proponent of entrepreneurs creating business plans," Hanley notes. "I view business plans as the #1 barrier to starting a business; 95 percent of the time, once you start your business, you end up going in a completely different direction than you had originally planned as you discover your strengths, your weaknesses, what your customers want and… Continue

Personal Goals from the Inside Out

Editor note: The following article was published in The Sacramento Business Journal, January 1996. It provides an interesting view regarding integrating spirituality into business.

Conventional wisdom dictates that we must set clear goals and have vision if we are to achieve great things. After all, how can we ghetto where we are going if we do not know where we want to go? Now ask, who is setting the goals an… Continue

It's common to use your home as your place of business, or perhaps rent a post office box. But both of these choices have their downsides and can hamper your startup's success, says small business CPA Michael Hanley.
